Priyanshu Gupta (CSE), GGITS Batch – 2012 - 2016

1st Technical Round -
We are four students who went at the same time. Only one Interviewer is taking the interview. First, he asks for the Introduction which include you Major, Minor and which programming language you are comfortable with. I said my introduction with C++ as preferred programming language. He asked the other three students the same. After that he gave us a couple of puzzle questions. Mine was a pyramid in which sum of two lower boxes is the resultant of the upper boxes. Some fields are given; you have to fill all the blocks with numbers. Second was given as 5x5 square box and some number is given; you have to find the missing number. The box and pyramid is given as –

I solved the puzzles in first attempt. After that he asked me two programming questions. First, write a program to take string as input and print it in reverse order. For example, Input – “Today is Sunday” Output – “Sunday is Today”. Second, Write a program to take 10 inputs as integer and print the highest three numbers from those 10 inputs.
I solved those questions. It doesn’t matter that you are making any syntax error but the logic should be well clear to the interviewer. It takes about half an hour to complete my first Technical Round.

2nd Technical Round –
The interviewer called me inside. I have waited for like 15 minutes in the room while he is giving instructions to other student. Then he said to wait outside. I left the room. After 5 minutes he called me again. Then, he started with my Introduction. After he asked me to write some complex program that you have ever encountered. I was baffled. That time I didn’t know what’s to say. Then he asked to tell me about any new technology you have learned. I said AngularJS and explain it a little. Then he asked me to tell about the AngularJS as I (Interviewer) don’t know anything about it. I started with the definition and all the features of AngularJS. He said - Can you write a program in AngularJS. I said that I can’t sir; I am still learning AngularJS. He again asked me to write any complex program that you have ever encountered. I said – Merge sort, bubble sort, insertion sort, and selection sort. He said –“Ab tumse kya puche?” He suddenly started saying your interview score is too low as compared to other students. He asked my resume I gave it to him and he just take a look and suddenly give it back to me. Then he asked why should I hire you? I said – “I have good programming skills. I am a hard coder and want to be part of development team.” He then asked do you have any offers letters from other companies. I said –“Yes Sir for TCS” then he asked why you want to join Persistent when you have a offer letter from TCS. I said –“Sir, Persistent is a product based company while TCS is service based company.” He stopped me write there and said “Everyone is saying the same thing!” One or two second paused. Then he said write a program to show all the inheritance in a single program. I wrote it. He asked me to explain the whole program. I explained it very well. Then, he asked me do have any questions from me. I asked, Persistent is working on IoT(Internet of Things). Can you explain more about it? He gets surprised and asked me do you know the basic function of IoT. I explained it but a little less correct version. Then, he said write my email address and prepare a PowerPoint presentation that how IoT works in a simple way that everyone is able to understand how it works and what is it. Then, he said you may go now.
I think those 15 minutes waiting and saying “Ab tumse kya puche?” and all was a part of stress testing to test you how to react to those questions. My reaction was a little smile on my face. That’s all.
This interview is about 40 minutes excluding those 15 minutes waiting time.

HR Interview –
He asked me my Introduction. Then he asked the city preference. I said Pune. He again asked what if you are allocated to Nagpur. I said yeah sure, I will manage it. Then he started explaining how you are going to be allocated. Then, He asked me about my family background. After that, he asked do you have any offer letter from other companies. I answered the same way like in 2nd technical interview. Then, he started giving me review on my interviews that you have just a little low in confidence. You have to improve your confidence. He then said with the smiling face “Welcome to Persistent” and give me a form to fill the basic information and city preference.
It take only 4-5 minutes to complete my HR round.
